Ask these shoes

Recently I was in Uthiru, where I had gone to carry out one of the #SamuraiSupport projects in efforts to grow rugby in Kenya.

After the numerous projects I have carried out… this was the project that stood out the most. This was the very first project I carried out where the kids had no sportswear/Kit, they therefore used their school uniform.

I was not only touched, but excited to meet people who could match up the amount of energy I have (The people I was with couldn’t match up. )

Back to the shoes,  these amazing children were laughing, smiling, playing and being cheeky (basically being kids), all this dispute of lacking resources.

Once I walked in, I was amazed by the way the kids jumped on me and called me by name. I was touched and honoured to be part and parcel of Positive Action Kenya and the #SamuraiSupport.

Lesson learnt, be happy, use all the resources you have and do not complain we can do it…

The Co – curricular Support

It has always been a dream, myself and others have had for people to be equal, self relient and access things things that can make our lives better. However,  this is not the case, as there are those that have, and those that don’t.

I took it upon myself to try and help where I can and make someone else’s life better or easier, thus being a founder of Positive Action Kenya, check us out on Facebook, instagram, twitter or http://www.positiveactionkenya.org .

Through mentorship, education and some sponsorship, my dependable team and I have been able to carry out numerous support projects with the help of various volunteers.

#BUILDINGKE being one of our slogans (or should I say #HashTags) we strive to do our level best to help and make a person who is less fortunates’ life a little better, using the little resources we have and the support system we have.

With the support of companies such as @samuraisportswear we have been able to embark on a campaign that helps educate our children on the importance of sports (Co – curricular activities). Through my sporting background and help from my national team mates namely @ssbeezy and @majei_ we have been able to visit a number of schools to give talks and donate some #SamuraiGoodies.

We/ I am looking forward to helping out a lot more and support projects and people I deem fit, responsible and dependable in this campaign dubbed #SamuraiSupport.

One day your up next your down

I have taken up this opportunity to post heart felt messages that will not only touch you,  but will also inspire you to live a better and more cheerful life.

Yesterday, I went to a networking event. Here I met a bunch of people who not only inspired me, but also made a very big impact on my perspective on life. Let’s say the event name was ‘The Connect’ (a little embarrassed to say the real name of the event).

There was this lady, let’s call her Jackie, who was making history with her prospering business. She was getting amazing offers and tenders all over the place. Soon she was becoming a ‘Top 40 under 40.

Jackie is beautiful, courageous,  enthusiastic and filled with joy… she was a little corky and full of herself, honestly who wouldn’t be if they were making it in life.

Great business deal after business deal, she was making loads of money.

All of a sudden, things took a huge turn, after a sour deal she made, let’s dub it ‘A deal with the devil’. This deal unfortunately took her to the streets… she had to survive. (She also had a child).

She became a hawker, on the streets of nairobi,  trying to move products. In efforts trying to maintain her lifestyle, she was failing miserably. She was eventually kicked out of her house and lost her car, however, her daughter managed to stay in her school. Losing her earthly possessions also made her loose her friends. I believe when you down, a strong support system is what you need (from her family she was the lone child).

Days went by, and she continued with her hustle on the streets. Remember she was initially making it in her life, so she still had some of her old possessions. (Imagine seeing a beautiful lady, in the latest trendy wear, selling groceries on the roadside). As she went on with her day, she was approached by a lady who noticed that she spoke and looked ‘a little out of place’.

This lady asked Jackie numerous questions in regards to her life and what she was doing on the road hawking. This was followed by numerous concerning questions.

This is where her life took yet another turn for the better and she was offered a job. With this job she would practice what she used to do and get many more recommendations…

Today she is working hard in efforts to make her life, together with her daughter, better.

When your down and out, believe and do your level best to try and have a positive outlook on life, things will eventually look up.
